What is Conservatism

Conservatism is often mocked but rarely understood. The typical stereotype for a conservative is that the person who practices such principles must be a white male who is at least in his late 50s. Such a male is said to be a sexist, a biggot, a homophobe and feels that the environment is of no use to anyone and is not worth saving.

This is how conservatives are routinely portrayed by members of the media such as The New York Times, MSNBC, CNN and other media outlets.

These stereotypes are erroneous and stretch the truth to a point where it is an out and out lie.

We conservatives value our country and our founding principles. We understand that men were created equally but do not remain equal past their time of birth. We believe that it is for each individual to declare and decide what function they will serve in society and we support their choice entirely as long as it falls within the boundaries of the Constitution and the penal law itself. We conservatives believe in putting in a hard days work and earning a living. We also prefer to keep the majority of our gross pay and use it to support ourselves and our families.

We conservatives value our country and are willing to defend the principles and documents on which it was founded. We believe in a strong defense and supporting those who help us accomplish just that. We believe that our nation's leaders should allot sufficient funding to our military in order for a strong defense to be implemented (as is the way in nation's such as Israel).

We conservatives believe in responsible spending by our leaders in Washington, as well as in the local districts. Wasteful spending destroys lives in the long run and raises taxes in both the short and long runs.

We conservatives do support the rights of gun owners. We believe that gun control is a waste of time and resources as it has been proven that criminals and undeserving weapon possessors will manage to possess a weapon. We believe that enforcing gun control punishes law-abiding gun owners and in fact, infringes upon their Second Amendment Rights. It is much more productive, we believe, to instead have stricter punishments for offenders. Once again, we begin equal but if at some point in our lives we destroy our "clean slate" then that was an individual choice.

We conservatives value life and support punishments for those who threaten life. Yes, many conservatives do not support abortions. It has nothing to do with a man deciding what a woman can or cannot do to her body and has everything to do with preserving life.

We are conservatives and We will defeat the socialists.
