Farewell, Senator Kennedy

Earlier this week (on Tuesday to be precise) we, as a nation, suffered a loss when Senator Edward M. Kennedy passed away.

Kennedy had been at war with brain cancer for the past year.

A democrat (obviously) from Massachussetts, Kennedy has been a member of the United States Senate for more than forty years.

Eventhough I have much contempt for him, especially his cowardice (yes, I am referencing the Chappaquiddick Incident) I still have to tip my cap to his work ethic. Eventhough I wish he had shut up years ago and had packed it in and sat back and enjoyed his inherited fortune, I respect that he didn't.

I'm not going to drone on about his greatness or his legacy.... we have MSNBC for that; but I will say this: If the Republican Party could demonstrate the work ethic which Senator Kennedy did his entire life, we would be a lot better off.

The question which has repeatedly crossed my mind since his passing is this: How do Mary Jo Kopechne's parents and relatives feel about Kennedy's legacy. I honestly hope that at some during Kennedy's life, he was able to make peace with his actions and with her parents.

From a young conservative kid, So long Senator.

  1. You're far too kind but I get your point. My greatest hope was that when he arrived there at the pearly gates, Mary Jo was waiting for him and bitch-slapped his sad sorry excuse for a soul directly to hell!
